CAPERS ROLE MODEL ROWE SCORES ON NSL DEBUT!

Jul. 16, 2025

CBU CAPERS Women's soccer alumni Lauren Rowe scored a dramatic clincher for AFC Toronto at Halifax Tides on Tuesday night to seal a crucial 1-0 win for Marko Milanovic's runaway Northern Super League leaders.

Recent signing Rowe's clinical strike after she burst off the bench at Wanderers Grounds will have brought a special reaction from a unique fan club back on the island where she made such an impact as a Varsity player.

Throughout the Fall and Winter Lauren excelled giving back to her community as a coach within the CAPERS Academy, especially inspiring the girls who worked with her in the Provincial Players Sessions designed to help develop players aimed at the Team Nova Scotia programs.

Regional Director of Soccer Development Iain King said: "It is vital for young female players to have role models they can look up to on their soccer journeys, if you can't see it you can't be it.

"Lauren would speak to our young players about her own story, coming to the CAPERS from Newfoundland to work her way into becoming a huge player for Ness Timmons' team in clinching the AUS title then shining at the USPORTS National championships.

"Most importantly, the girls got to work with a top level player and person and see how dedicated she was to improving herself. That's huge, I know the CAPERS girls will be thrilled to see their coach score on her professional debut, we could not be prouder of her."
