ACADEMY ALUMNI JACEK LEADS CBU CAPERS INTO BATTLE FRIDAY NIGHT!

Sep. 11, 2025

CAPERS Academy alumni Jacek Marmulak grew up dreaming of playing soccer for CBU and studying hard at his hometown university.

These days he lives that dream and tomorrow night (Friday) v Saint Mary's University his dedication and progress will be recognised when he is handed the captain's armband to lead the team out for the 7.30pm kick-off game.

For CAPERS Head Coach Deano Morley Hometown Pride is hugely important and on a night when Soccer Cape Breton's charity partner Caleb's Courage is being showcased it's fitting that a player who has been at the heart of the soccer community is our on-field skipper.

Head Coach Deano stressed: "One of the things we’re most proud of at CBU is seeing local players join our program, work hard, develop and achieve success.

"Few embody that journey more than Jacek Marmulak. His academic brilliance has been matched by his daily work ethic in training and, just as importantly, by his genuineness, kindness, politeness, and humble nature.

"Jacek, a multiple Academic All Canadian recipient, who recently saw part of his research published, is also an AUS and National Champion student-athlete.
With our newly launched CAPERS Academy, we dream of producing many more local talents, and Jacek is a shining example of what’s possible.

This Friday night we’re proud to announce that Jacek will lead the CAPERS into battle against Saint Mary’s. We invite our Academy families and the wider community to come out, celebrate Jacek’s achievements, and get behind your CAPERS Men’s Soccer. We need you in the stands. Let’s pack the place. Go CAPERS!"

Soccer Cape Breton and the CAPERS Academy are truly thrilled to see one of our athletes honoured in this way and recognised for refusing to give up on his soccer dreams as he juggles a tough study schedule in a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Chemistry.

Regional Director of Soccer Development Iain King said: "Jacek is a shining example to our Academy kids and is very popular within the programs as he coaches with us from Minis to Camps to working with the Academy teams when his hectic schedule allows.

"He came out of an Academy team, expertly coached by our former Assistant Technical Director Kuvy Moodley, that produced multiple Varsity players such as Ryan Wadden (CBU), Andrew Dalzell (Mount Allison), Noe Chiasson (Moncton) and Jai Cunsolo-Willox and Liam Collings (King's).

"We are extremely proud of that group and their coach - who has moved on to study physiotherapy at Dalhousie - and it is fitting that Jacek's honour on Friday will highlight the players we can produce. Our job now is to nurture more who can follow in his footsteps."
