CAPERS ELEMENTARY LEAGUE WRAPS UP IN SMILES

Oct. 22, 2025

Season Three of the CAPERS Elementary League wrapped up in style yesterday (Tuesday) at Ness Timmons Field.

Over five excellent match days 24 schools across Cape Breton and over 300 players have been involved in the hugely popular project which was run this year in collaboration with Active Healthy Living.

The kids loved having a host of CAPERS Men's players act as referees throughout the program and there were huge smiles yesterday as each player received a special CAPERS Elementary League (CEL) wristband to remind them of the fun they have had.

Regional Director of Soccer Development Iain King said: "Soccer Cape Breton has amazing partners in this from Jubilee Elementary School vice-principal Steve Ranni to Brian Tierney at Active Healthy Living and our CAPERS Men's Soccer coordinator and team captain Joe Mac.

"Every player who interacted with the kids was a credit to CBU and a shining example of what a student-athlete should be when they are giving back to the community.

"This program gets bigger and better each year and we look forward to Season Four, I hope having the chance to play on Ness Timmons Field and meet the CAPERS players fuels a love of the Beautiful Game in all the kids who took part."
