CAPE BRETON FC midfielder Norah MacDonald has won a place in the prestigious Whitecaps FC Prospects Program as her soccer journey takes another significant step forward.
The gifted U15AAA teenager won an Atlantic Championship gold medal as part of Team Nova Scotia in Newfoundland this summer and a tremendous season was topped off by Norah playing a pivotal role in securing the Tier One U13AA Girl Nova Scotia Soccer League banner for CBFC on home soil at Ness Timmons Field in August.
Now Norah's skills have been recognised at the elite level after she was selected as part of an 18-player squad for the Whitecaps program.
This Regional Excellence initiative will culminate in the girls playing in a superb Showcase event in Vancouver in March 2025. Norah will be in training camps with the best in the province to gear up for this over the next six months.
Soccer Cape Breton's Regional Director of Development Iain King said: "We are thrilled with Norah's selection and it is richly deserved for the hard work and dedication she puts into her development in the game.
"Norah's journey within CBFC is carefully managed to keep giving her obstacles and training and game experiences that stretch her. She is hugely coachable and brings so much energy and humility to her work on the field.
"She is a joy to work with and this is just the next step, four Nova Scotia players have moved onto the National Development Centres from this program and that has to be the target for Norah now."
