SUPER SIX FOR CBFC AS U13 GIRLS EARN PROVINCIAL SLOTS

Oct. 15, 2024

SIX Cape Breton FC players have been selected in the Top 45 in the province to take part in the U13 Girls Team Nova Scotia training program this Fall/Winter.

Claire Kaupp, Evelyn Power, Avery Kelloway, Mya Boudreau, Talia Cordoba and Macey MacPherson all came through the Top 60 ID Camp process with Soccer Nova Scotia to make the prestigious 2024/25 training project.

The girls, who return to club training this week, all starred in competitive Tier One soccer this summer with Claire, Evelyn, Avery and Mya all playing key roles in an invincible undefeated season for the U13AA Academy Girls that saw them lift the NSSL Provincial banner under the coaching guidance of Tyler Kaupp, Krista Mills and Ashlyn Tierney.

Talia and Macey, meanwhile, were nurtured in the U13AA Competitive Team that was led by CBU CAPERS USPORTS National title winning coach Deano Morley and assisted by Lisa MacEachern, Kelly MacDermid and Janelle Tierney.

The inclusion of the six players is a huge boost for the CBFC Academy and Regional Director of Soccer Development Iain King said: "This is testament to the hard work and focus on improvement of six very gifted young athletes and the coaching staff who have cared for them over the last two and a half years.

"It is not easy for a rural club to win any Provincial banner and for the U13s Girls to do it in a season that saw them win 15 games and tie just one was exceptional. The rewards have come with Provincial recognition for so many of that squad at U13, U14 and even U15 level.

"A sign of the improvement in the depth of the 13s programs - which was hugely aided by Deano's selfless work with the Competitive squad - is the fact that while the target year would be 2012 born players we have Macey MacPherson in the mix as a 2013 and we are thrilled to have so many of the girls involved.

"They know, however, that starting this week they get back to club soccer, on the ball listening and learning to ensure they can be the best versions of themselves when they take part in the SNS sessions."
